Timberline – “Live Real”
This step-through phase of treatment has been designed to help students begin to “live real.”
Living Real means exercising integrity in one’s life. In other words, genuine living or walking the talk. A student begins to exercise self-management and eventually self-leadership. A student enhances his interpersonal relationships and begins discovering his purpose in life. Building a positive identity and being true to that identity are the objectives for this step-through phase in a student’s treatment. A student is focusing on doing what is right even when no one is watching – being a positive example behind the scenes, calling out those that are not being positive/living real, etc.
Objectives:
- Want something better
- I find the courage to want something better.
- I am entirely ready to have my Higher Power help me change.
- I want to help others make the right choices even if they do not want the help and even if it will be scary and uncomfortable for me.
- Commit to Releasing the Pain
- I make a commitment to forgive myself and gain the forgiveness of others I have hurt.
- I ask my Higher Power to help me forgive and to make amends with those I’ve hurt.
- Experience the Miracle of Forgiveness
- I make a list of all the people I have hurt.
- I seek for the courage and willingness to make amends with them all, as long as harm will not increase through contact.
- Show Genuine Change
1. I make direct amends to the people I have hurt wherever possible, except when doing so would injure myself or others.
2. I practice doing the right thing daily, and when I make mistakes I take responsibility and make it right immediately, before getting caught or being told to do so.
