Peak – “Being Real”
“Being real” is combining everything a student has learned from all the other steps and really putting all the tools to use. A student realizes that the meaning of charity doesn’t have the word “I” in it anywhere. It’s all about serving others, caring for those who don’t necessarily deserve it, those that might not seem to need help, or just because one is able to help others, i.e. peers, staff, and family members.
This is the highest accomplishment step-through treatment phase. This phase is important for a student to finalize his aftercare and relapse prevention plans while proving and maintaining elite leadership and being an example. Once a student has mastered leadership and personal strength, they are ready to step into Full Accomplishment of Treatment which is Graduation from the Triumph Youth Services Residential Treatment Program.
A student always shows that he is willing to make a difference in someone’s life, someone that possibly has the same feelings that he did when he first started the program. The student goes from learning from a mentor to possibly being a mentor and teaching another student. He learns to understand the responsibilities in being a mentor and the difference between being a leader and being a mentor.
