Replacing behavior issues with positive habits..

Who am I?

I am your constant companion. I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden. I will push you onward or drag you down to failure. I am completely at your command. Half of the things you do you might just as well turn over to me and I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.

I am easily managed – you must merely be firm with me. Show me exactly how you want something done and after a few lessons, I will do it automatically. I am the servant of all great individuals and, alas, of all failures, as well. Those who are great, I have made great. Those who are failures, I have made failures.

I am not a machine, though I work with the precision of a machine plus the intelligence of a human. You may run me for profit or run me for ruin – it makes no difference to me.

Take me, train me, be firm with me, and I will place the world at your feet. Be easy with me and I will destroy you.

I am A Habit.

This is a poem found in a book written by Sean Covey titled; The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.

The last words of this poem are Be easy with me and I will destroy you.. That is a very powerful statement and whether we are teaching our students to break old bad habits or create new, productive ones it will definitely not be EASY. This is the reason we have some of the most dedicated and talented Teachers, Therapists and Staff here at Triumph. We understand that overcoming behavior issues, learning disabilities, and addiction can be overwhelming as a whole. We teach our students to practice and form positive habits to replace the old, detrimental ones they may be struggling with. Little by little while working the phases of their program, good habits will emerge for our students. Consistently practicing these new habits will be key in changing our students’ life for the better.
