Triumph utilizes various therapy tools to help the boys in the program.
Individual Psychotherapy
Individual therapy is provided by a student’s primary therapist at least once each week and frequency can be increased depending on a student’s clinical needs. These sessions focus on behavioral and treatment issues and are conducted in a safe and private setting where a student can freely express thoughts and feelings. Individual therapy sessions are confidential due to ethics and client-therapist privilege. The assigned primary therapist will provide parents with personal updates regarding their son’s progress, recommendations, advice, etc. A student will be given many therapy assignments he will be required to complete throughout the course of his treatment. Each student must display through daily behaviors and interactions that they are applying what they have learned through therapy assignments.
Group Psychotherapy
Group Psychotherapy is provided as an integral part of the therapeutic program. Group Psychotherapy is facilitated by licensed clinicians. These psychotherapy groups are designed to focus on a variety of therapeutic topics including substance addiction, substance abuse, emotional disturbance, anger management, trauma, goal setting and planning, positive vs negative social networks, communication, and much more.
Family Psychotherapy
Family Psychotherapy is provided by a student’s primary therapist. When the student is ready and able to participate in family therapy and is showing significant progress with his individual goals/issues and commitment to working with his family as a whole, the family sessions will be implemented. Triumph clinicians will make great effort to accommodate parents’ schedules. Please try to make yourself available for family therapy; it is vitally important to your son’s success as well as your overall family success. Many of these sessions are done over the phone and via Skype video unless the parents are in town for a visit, at which time direct family psychotherapy is essential.
Family Psychotherapy sessions are designed to improve the family unit as a whole. This is accomplished through Functional Family Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. Parent training is also available. A main component of Family Psychotherapy is specifically focusing on the parents without the student present; many of the parents’ needs are explored including, but not limited to, adequately coping with a defiant child, family systems, and parental management skills. Again, “if you want things to be different, things need to be different.” Your son will be making a lot of positive changes while in this program and we encourage all parents and families as a whole to plan to make changes as well. You and the rest of your son’s family are part of the solution and essential to your son’s life-changing process. Family therapy is also a great time and place to discuss, plan, and build your family contract.
